You find yourself in the midst of the largest UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Austria, at the border between Salzburg and Carinthia. Whether you dive into the Millstätter See or want to climb the mountain peaks in the Tauern, everything is possible with us. The Salzburg Lungau is surrounded by a unique natural and cultural landscape, shaped by sustainability and a harmonious coexistence of humans and nature.
Hiking in the Salzburger Lungau
Satisfy your hiking cravings
Perhaps the most intense natural experience. Start right in the natural jewel Lungau to over 60 mountain lakes and summit victories up to 3,000 meters above sea level. Over hill and dale, past waterfalls, you will feel the power of nature and enjoy culinary highlights from the region at one of the 45 mountain huts with breathtaking views. Whether leisurely or challenging, enjoy the unspoiled nature.
Discover one of my favorite tours. The starting point is at Schaidberg in Obertauern, from where it goes past Twenger Alm Lake to the large Gurpitscheck (duration approx. 3 hours). The summit offers an impressive view over the Tauern. On the way back lies the Twenger Alm, which awaits you with homemade cheese and other specialties. Enjoy slow food in its most original form. And to clear your mind, I recommend a jump into the icy water.

Start your mountain biking experience right outside the door
Mountain biking
Numerous kilometers of finest biking trails lie at your feet. Our Bikers Paradise at the highest level offers you routes on forest and meadow paths or breathtaking mountain pass routes for road cycling. With an E-bike, even less experienced cyclists can climb the mountains and explore alpine pastures. Start right behind our house towards the Bonner Hütte to Katschberg (approx. 7km and 700m elevation gain). Cool downhill sections and sporty climbs make you crave for more. In the evening, you can lock your bike in our bike room and find tools for minor repairs. In our neighborhood, you can find everything related to bikes and bikes for rent.

Hiking or bathing holiday? With us, you don’t have to choose. A 20-minute drive from the Hoamat House leads to one of my favorite places, the natural jewel Millstätter See. From 3,000 meters above sea level to a Mediterranean holiday feeling, it can only be found here with us. For all long breakfast and brunch lovers, I recommend a stop at the Café Bistro KAP 4613 in Millstatt. Regional delicacies, a strong coffee, and a breathtaking view make for a perfect holiday day.

Nestled in the dreamlike landscape, one of the most beautiful 18-hole golf courses in Austria presents itself. Spacious practice facilities and the charming 9-hole Par 3 course offer plenty of space for beginners and advanced players.

Customs & Farmers' Harvest
In Lungau, many customs from a long-past time are still preserved. It is not only about old traditions, but much more about cohesion and togetherness. Be part of events like the spectacular Samson carrying or the presentation of the enchanting Prangstangen. During the Lungauer Farmers' Harvest, many festivals are celebrated, and special products from the region, such as the "Lungauer Eachtling" (potato) and the "Schöpserne" (roast from the alpine sheep), are offered. Immerse yourself among the locals, enjoy unique dishes, and learn more about life in the countryside and stories from bygone days.
